He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on. George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary." Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river. On and of all the battles that exist in the in the natural world none is more titanic than lions versus elephants. Being a social animal the African lion is more than a super predator, it's a hyper predator, and most would probably believe it is the ultimate predator. In the African plains forest and savannas the African elephant usually lives without rivals, its far stronger than a rhino or hippo and is up to 40 times bigger than a lion. However there is so rivalry between these two ultimate enemies and these videos showcase the lion's as king of the beasts.
Christian's story. Full ending and original soundtrack to the film "Christian, The Lion at World's End". Directed by Bill Travers,Commentary by Virgina McKenna, founders of the Born Free Foundation. In 1969 a young Australian, John Rendall and his friend Ace Bourke, bought a small lion cub from Harrods pet department, which was then legal. 'Christian' was kept in the basement of a furniture shop on the Kings Road in Chelsea, the heart of the swinging sixties. Loved by all, the affectionate cub ate in a local restaurant, played in a nearby graveyard, but was growing fast... A chance encounter with Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna led to a new life for Christian. He came to live in a huge enclosure and to sleep in a caravan at their Surrey home. Then in 1971 he was flown to Kenya, his ancestral home, and returned to the wild by lion-man George Adamson. Nine months later in 1972, John and Ace returned to Kora in Kenya. So these two people raised this lion cub who they named Christian, and sadly he got too big for them to take care of so they decided to release him to live as a wild lion. Well, in this footage, a year has passed and it looks like Christian's adapted to living with a pride of lions when his old friends come back to visit him. Watch closely and you can see the look of pure disbelief that dawns on his muzzle- it's awesome. ^_^ Next thing you know, we have a heart warming reunion. Not long after, members of Christian's pride approach and even they seem to accept Christian's human friends. Again, THIS IS NOT MINE! Four white lion cubs are forming part of an extensive white lion breeding program underway at a South African Park. For centuries rumours of mysterious white lions circulated in South Africa. Claims of sightings of the white lion started to surface in 1928. Scattered reports continued but confirmation that these animals were really white did not come until 1975 when a litter containing two white cubs was seen at Timbavati Game Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park.
