Während sich andere Männer in seinem Alter womöglich ins Familienleben stürzen, träumt Ryan von dem großen Vielflieger-Preis, den er nach 10.000.000 zurückgelegten Meilen endlich abräumen kann. Die 322 Tage im Jahr, die er im Flieger verbringt, vergehen wie im Fluge. Vor Ort ist er nie sonderlich lange. Seine Arbeit besteht daraus, Mitarbeiter großer Firmen auf professionelle Art und Weise von ihrer Kündigung zu unterrichten. Der Job lässt Ryan sichtlich kalt, er macht sich ohnehin nicht viel aus Gefühlsduseleien und zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen. Als Ryan auf einer seiner Reisen die attraktive Alex (Vera Farmiga) kennenlernt, lässt er nach vielen Jahren endlich mal wieder seine menschliche Seite durchblicken. Natürlich ist ein Flughaften der Ort der ersten Begegnung: Die souveräne Geschäftsfrau spricht dem Vielflieger aus der Seele. Ryan befindet sich auf Wolke7 und ein Checkout scheint an dieser Stelle nicht einfach zu sein. Zeitgleich kündigen sich auf beruflicher Ebene ebenfalls Turbulenzen an. Sein Chef Craig (Jason Batman) hat sich von den Plänen der jungen Harvard-Absolventin Natalie (Anna Kendrick) überzeugen lassen. In ihren Augen könnte die Firma viel Geld sparen, wenn sie auf moderne Kommunikationsmittel umsteigen würde. Für Ryan würde dies bedeuten: Raus aus dem Flieger ...

Halfway through this movie I considered it an 8 out of 10 and decently spent money. The second half came as a big surprise. George Clooney let go of all his suave and let his eyes show fear and isolation that real people feel.
