Fantasy in C minor for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, op. 80, by Ludwing van Beethoven. Daniel Baremboim at piano and conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker and Deutschen Staatsopern Chorus. 1995.

An original composition for a cappella SATB choir by Ian Maurer of Brisbane, Australia. Not all choral music is serious. "A Choral Menagerie" pokes a little fun at each section of the SATB choir. Loud and amorous basses, air-head sopranos, conceited tenors and altos with delusions of grandeur. Like all good fairytales, "A Choral Menagerie" ends happily ever after and contains a moral - that the most unlikely collections of people can produce beautiful music together. Web: http://radiomanga.blogspot.com http://ostanimemusic.blogspot.com 9th Symphony Choral (Beethoven) 4th movement excerpt Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion OST: Evangelion Simphony 1 (1995) [audio] Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン, Shin Seiki Evangerion), commonly referred to as NGE, Eva, or Evangelion, is a commercially and critically successful, influential, and popular Japanese anime that began in October 1995; the series launched the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. It is commonly regarded as one of the greatest anime of all time. The anime was created by Gainax, written and directed by Hideaki Anno, and co-produced by TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems (NAS). Evangelion is an apocalyptic mecha action series which centers around the efforts by the paramilitary organization NERV to fight monstrous beings called Angels, primarily using giant mecha called Evangelions which are piloted by select teenagers, one of whom is the primary protagonist. It follows those teenagers and other NERV members until the defeat of the Angels and the eventual apocalyptic ending. Events in the series refer to Judeo-Christian symbols from the book of Genesis and Biblical apocrypha among others. Later episodes shift focus to psychoanalysis of the main characters, who display various emotional problems and mental illnesses; the nature of existence and reality are questioned in a way that lets Evangelion be characterized as "postmodern fantasy". Hideaki Anno, the director of the anime series, had suffered from clinical depression prior to creating the series, and the psychological aspects of the show are based on the director's own experiences with overcoming this illness. In the original Japanese, the word "Evangelion" is pronounced with a hard g per its Greek roots (see Translation notes on the title below). Source: wikipedia.org

At 2008 Beijing New Year's Concert Op. 80, part of mvmt 1 Allegro assai

"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" (German, Ein' feste Burg ist unser Gott) is the best known of Martin Luther's hymns. Luther wrote the words and composed the melody sometime between 1527-1529. The Organ was built at the Schuke workshop in Berlin-Lichterfelde. It is a mechanical organ with four manuals and one pedal keyboard and an electric stop. 63 stops serve about 5,100 pipes (among them 170 Spanish trumpets). Jumala ompi linnamme (joskus kirjoitetaan virheellisesti Jumala onpi linnamme) on suomalaisen virsikirjan tunnetuimpia virsiä. Virren alkuperäinen kirjoittaja on Martti Luther, jonka alkuperäisteksti Ein feste Burg vuodelta 1528 perustuu psalmiin numero 46: "Jumala on turvamme ja linnamme, auttajamme hädän hetkellä". Ein feste Burgista tuli jo Lutherin aikana uskonpuhdistuksen kannattajien tunnuslaulu. http://www.gedaechtniskirche-berlin.de/

This is a short clip I got from a friend, not sure where it came from. If someone knows, please post and I'll include the information. I recognize the three women from the Trio Bulgarka - Stoyanka Boneva, Yanka Rupkina and Eva Georgieva. I don't know the other three, or the flautist. Sorry I have so little information, but there is so little Bulgarian music on YouTube that I had to add this.

The Battle Der Choral Von Leuthen(1933)

Classical music for your day. From Wikipedia: De La Rue "was a Franco-Flemish composer and singer of the Renaissance. A member of the same generation as Josquin des Prez, and a long associate of the Habsburg-Burgundian musical chapel, he ranks with Agricola, Brumel, Compère, Isaac, Obrecht, and Weerbeke as one of the most famous and influential composers in the Netherlands polyphonic style in the decades around 1500." And from Brumel from same source: "was a French composer. He was one of the first renowned French members of the Franco-Flemish school of the Renaissance, and, after Josquin Desprez, was one of the most influential composers of his generation." He's best known for his masses, especially the 'Missa Et ecce terrae motus' for twelve voices. For this video we'll hear a piece from each of their requiems. Pierre de la Rue - (c.1460-1518) - Requiem: Introit: Requiem aeternam - 4'13" Antoine Brumel - (c.1460-1520) - Requiem: Introit: Requiem aeternam - 5'17" performed by: The Clerks Group with Edward Wickham label: Gaudeamus

Originally a part of the oratorio Judas Maccabaeus as "See here the conqu'ring hero comes". Music adapted in 1884 by Edmond Budry for the well known hymn.

This is one of the pieces the mass choir sang at the WELS West Regional Choral Fest in New Ulm, MN. It gives me chills everytime! Everyone did an amazing job. Just so you know, I don't own this piece of music.
